The Archaeological Research of Metin I. Eren
Images of knapped stuff. I have been knapping for 6 years, having started informally and occasionally my third undergraduate year at Harvard (2003-2004). Over time, my interests, time investment, and commitment dramatically increased. However, my knapping improvement plateaued, and therefore during 2007-2009 I apprenticed the flintknapper Bruce Bradley to "get over the hump". Overall I'm not doing too bad - in some technologies, like ones I've published on (preferential Levallois, certain blade technologies), I am quite good, and my bifacial reduction is steadily improving. I am also good at big nodule reduction. I think it is safe to say that my weakest skill at this point is pressure flaking. I practice 2.5-3 hours a day, everyday.
